Explore the Apex source on GitHub ↗The team studied 20 hours of Formula 1 team radio: 7,381 clips from 2023–2026. Real engineers lead with the number, answer in about 7–15 words and leave room for a driver to concentrate.
Qualifying behaviour was informed by 3,602 qualifying clips. The team’s analysis found about 4% of messages occurred on push laps, with almost no coaching. So in qualifying, Apex stays quiet on your push laps.

When a driver asks a question, Claude Sonnet 5.5 answers using a short summary of the live race: positions, gaps, fuel and what has already happened.
In a blind test on 39 real driver questions from our own races, Claude Sonnet 5.5 answered 96% correctly, against 74% for the next model we tried. In a real race at Sebring it answered all 13 of the driver’s questions, in about 4-5 seconds each.
